The commentators about who should/should not be there should listen to themselves. Anyone who has a tad of Asian connection and identifies w/being Asian should be there. We should work on inclusiveness, not by adding onto the world’s problems by being exclusionary. Even non-Asians who have any interest or are genuine sympathisers of the Asian community should be welcomed at any Asian gathering.

There are so many well-known or famous actors/musicians/actresses who look white but as it turns out have parents who are Asian or grandparents who are Asian. Some of these people have Dutch Indonesian or French Vietnamese parents.

Lou was Mexican in Stand and Deliver as well, or he has played a Native American in cowboy movie also.
Comment by jrmetmoi — August 14, 2010 @ 9:42 am
Huh? I read that Lou’s dad is white and his mom’s Filipino.

My niece used to perform on stage with him in Broadway’s The King & I – apparently, he likes his mom’s chicken adobo
. He’s a bit Filipino, too.

thanks for the info, I saw him play Richie Valens in La Bamba (sp) when I was like 9 so I guess I assumed he was Mexican.

not true, you dont just get it cuz ur asian, thats just plain stupid, theres a reason why michelle malkin didnt get one
Comment by elevensmiles11 — August 14, 2010 @ 3:25 pm
i was talking about an audience comprised of different races.
Comment by tigertank06 — August 14, 2010 @ 3:57 pm
because it doesn’t matter if an asian celebrity is good or not at what they do, they still get recognized regardless. so you could be a really crappy actor, actress, entertainer, etc and yet still be get an award. that’s what i was addressing in my first comment, if you want recognition seek it from an audience of mixed races.
Comment by tigertank06 — August 14, 2010 @ 4:52 pm
so you think there should be an event for full asians another one for half asians, a third one for one quarter asians ect ect ect
lol I can see how “SMART” that is
Comment by motrilde — August 14, 2010 @ 5:45 pm
but the point is I hardly see asians at other awards and I am sure they should be.
So let asian make their own award, what is wrong with that?
Comment by motrilde — August 14, 2010 @ 6:44 pm
not true, ur an idiot, theres tons of half or mixed asians there
Comment by elevensmiles11 — August 14, 2010 @ 7:16 pm
he’s half
Comment by shortandstuff — August 14, 2010 @ 8:13 pm
think whatever you want then, lol. i still say that people should get recognition from a mixed audience.
Comment by tigertank06 — August 14, 2010 @ 8:52 pm
*pats you on the head *
Uh huh…… sure…
Comment by FoxyChoklatRobot — August 14, 2010 @ 9:36 pm
i think because everyone there is full asian? if you look at the name it’s the asian excellence awards. to a lay person going it’s self-explanatory. anyone going there would assume to see full asians. not being racist, just explaining a first assumption.
Comment by tigertank06 — August 14, 2010 @ 10:12 pm
erm if she’s half Asian…why shouldn’t she be there….
