@HopelessDevotionOx I liked that Doyle was the one of the few “original” characters not imported from Sunnydale. But Doyle was wildly popular too, which I think is also one of the reasons he was killed off.

@citrusbust They didn’t plan for it to be as soon as it was, Joss has said himself he wished he hadn’t had to let Glenn go the way that he did and he always had every intention of bringing him back. It’s a shame really
I always thought Doyle was one of the few characters with real depth, considering his past and everything.

@HopelessDevotionOx Actually, Joss said in an interview that Glenn had a similar intensity as David did and since the show is called Angel and centers around him, they had to kill off Doyle. They were going to kill off Doyle before the pilot even finished.

It was a goal of mine to meet him ever since he played on Roseanne…I was drawn to him for some reason even way back then…I just wanted to be able to talk to him about his acting methods and ask him how he plays a role so convincing and about his cool swagger & nearves he keeps on film & on set. Theres not too many interviews I can find on him…so its hard to get to know him. He was such a modern day James Dean of our time I thought….and now even more so. RIP bud..See you in Heaven 4 sure!

@AvatarWho Yeah, I noticed that too, she was kind of mumbling and telling the obvious, you know, things we already knew. Everyone who knew him describes him as an extremely charming person, he must be someone impossible to forget, I mean, I can only imagine… I saw him for the 1st time on Angel and I never forgot about him, and his death, oddly, pains me though I have seen many celebrities die, including my all time fave Michael Jackson.

To Bad we’ll never no, if this is a face you could learn to love. RIP Glen

The show weren’t thinking about letting him go until they found out about his drug and drinking problem. Even when they killed him off and asked him to leave, they actually had every intention of bringing him back. They had a storyline in which he was going to return as a new Big Bad, but of course that never happened due to the tragic death of poor Glen. It’s such a sad story. Rest in Peace.

You can tell that Charisma is struggling to talk about poor Glenn, the crew must have been really close … it’s always like a big family, I imagine, when you’re making these shows, so for someone to die it aches.
We lost Glenn … and just last year, we also lost Andy Hallet (who played Lorne) because of heart problems …
Sometimes life can be a real b****.

I wonder how the show would have been with Doyle on for the duration of Angel’s run. I’ll bet even better.

i thought it was funny in angel when cordi starts whacking him over the head with a tray, because she didnt no he were a demon and that it was him!
i firt saw Glenn in angel, and i thought he was a good comedian.
its sad when people die from dugs, but its more upseting that people make and use drugs because they think it makes their life happyer
Comment by tokiotomlover — August 12, 2010 @ 8:39 pm
rumor had it that they were already thinking of letting him go, but the real truth was they heard that he was using drugs so thats why they killed him off, but yeah he was a great actor, db said we became like brothers, and when they asked him about his passing he was too choked up to talk about it and the same with charisma you can just hear it in her voice and tone
Comment by mariskarox — August 12, 2010 @ 8:43 pm
Technally they brought her back in the first season. On the season finale of the first season, Darla was on for like the last 10 seconds or something like that of the episode.

Sadly like the rest of you I just found out about his death, I saw In Loving Memory of Glen Quinn in the ending credits of Awakening or Long Day’s Journey (season 4) and looked it up on wikipedia cause I dont know everyone’s name and that’s how I found out, unfortunately there isnt a lot of information about him on wikipedia I guess that’s cause so lil is known about him.
Rest In Peace Glenn Quinn

Its weird, even though I didn’t know he died in real life, I think I always knew without recollection, I don’t know, something inside of me felt oddly emotional when I’d see him on angel, maybe it was because I knew he dies on the show but for some reason it always felt like he really did die, like he really was no longer with us. I hate it that I found this out so late, but I already missed him when we didnt see him on the show. RIP Glenn We miss you :’(

I know, its too ironic yet too sad.
Comment by sal1027 — August 12, 2010 @ 11:54 pm
I had no I idea he died in real life until I saw this; it kills me to hear someone you know died for such a stupid reason, some of the greatest and most talented people have died so young all from a stupid drug overdose, it makes me so angry that I cry. R.I.P. Glenn Quinn, wish you could have stuck around longer for the final season with the rest of the crew, God Bless.

omg I didnt even know about his death in real life but when I read the title for this video, I didn’t even have to watch it to know what this was, I had a feeling by just reading the title what this might be about because I read the title and thought to myself “Charisma talks about Glenn, why did he die? Oh god please let this be about her talking about what a good actor he is.” but low and behold, she says “its hard to talk about somebody who’s not walking with us anymore” and then I knew.
